Precision Building Construction LLC will be building a new restaurant and retail addition to a long-established motor lodge in the heart of the International Drive tourist corridor.

The construction cost of the project will be between $2 million and $3 million and work is expected to begin in the fall, said Chuck Hobus, president of Orlando based Precision Building Construction.

The new food and retail venue, with 5,300 square feet of leasable space, will be attached to the front of the 119-room Travelodge By Windham Orlando, formerly the Heart of I-Drive Hotel, at 7200 International Drive.  The facility will be named Steel Chef after one of its main tenants.

Steel Chef is a takeout restaurant concept. There will be a total of 26 leasable containers and they will be constructed where the three-story motor lodge’s front parking lot is located.

The project currently is in the design phase by Precision Building Construction and Scott Cormia Architects of Orlando. The target date for completion is summer of 2022.

“This new addition will provide a fresh, revitalized look for the property, and it will provide new shopping and dining options at a busy International Drive location,” noted Hobus.

Precision Building Construction is a major design/build firm with healthcare, retail, industrial and commercial projects throughout Central Florida.
